Getting started

What is Sight-Terp?

Sight-Terp is a toolbox built for interpreters. It supports you live in the booth, gives you AI feedback on performances you have already delivered, and produces practice material so you can train between assignments.

Which apps are in the toolbox?
  • Assist — a digital boothmate with fast real-time speech recognition, entity highlighting, custom glossary import and dynamic translation.
  • Evaluate — upload a recording of your performance and get an AI feedback report on it.
  • Practice — generate natural-sounding speeches to train with.

All three are available on every plan, including the free one.

Do I need to install anything?

No. Everything runs in the browser. The one exception is routing sound from another application — a Zoom or Teams feed, for example — into Assist. For that you need a virtual audio cable such as VB-Cable, which the Setup Guide walks you through step by step.

Which browser and setup work best?

A current Chromium-based desktop browser (Chrome or Edge) gives the most reliable microphone and audio-routing behaviour. Allow microphone access when the browser asks, and use a wired headset where you can — clean input audio is the single biggest factor in recognition quality.

How do I create an account?

Use the Login button in the top bar. Sign-in is handled by Auth0, so you can register with an email address and password or with a social account. Confirm the verification email before your first session — the apps stay locked until the address is verified. If the email never arrives, check your spam folder and request a new one from the sign-in screen.

Credits & usage

What is a credit?

A credit is one unit of usage. Each app draws on its own balance, so Assist credits, Evaluate credits and Practice credits are counted separately and cannot be moved between apps. All three balances are shown in the top bar and on your Account page.

How are Assist credits charged?

By recognition time. One credit covers roughly three minutes, and the total is rounded up at the end of a session. Sessions under about a minute and a half are not charged at all, so a quick sound check costs you nothing.

Metering happens on the server, which means a session that ends unexpectedly — a closed tab, a dropped connection, a sleeping laptop — is still settled correctly rather than billed twice or not at all.

How are Evaluate and Practice credits charged?

One credit per run: one credit for each feedback report in Evaluate, and one credit for each generated speech in Practice. The credit is deducted when the run starts, and the length of the recording or speech does not change the cost.

What do I get for free?

Every new account starts with 5 Assist credits (about 15 minutes of recognition), 3 Evaluate reports and 5 Practice speeches. No card is required, and you have access to every app in the toolbox while you try it out.

Do credits expire?

Credits bought as a one-time credit pack never expire — they sit in your account until you use them. Credits that come with a monthly subscription are refreshed at the start of each billing cycle.

Where can I see what I have used?

Open Account. Alongside your plan and current balances, the Recent Usage section lists your latest runs with the date, the app, the recognition time for Assist sessions, and the credits charged.

Plans & payments

Which plans are available?
  • Basic — free: 5 Assist, 3 Evaluate, 5 Practice.
  • Plus — $5.90 / month: 100 Assist, 25 Evaluate, 40 Practice.
  • Pro — $13.90 / month: 300 Assist, 80 Evaluate, 120 Practice.
  • Elite — $25.90 / month: 700 Assist, 150 Evaluate, 250 Practice, plus priority support and early access to new features.

One-time credit packs start at $2.50. See the Pricing page for the current details of each option.

Subscription or credit pack — which should I pick?

If you interpret regularly and use the toolbox most weeks, a monthly plan is cheaper per credit and tops you up automatically. If your work comes in bursts, credit packs are the better fit: you pay once, and what you do not use stays in your account.

Can I change or cancel my plan?

Yes. You can upgrade at any time from the Pricing page, and you can cancel whenever you like to stop future charges. Cancelling does not cut your access short — you keep the plan until the end of the period you have already paid for.

How is payment handled?

Checkout runs through a Merchant of Record, which processes the payment, collects any applicable tax and issues your invoice. Card details are entered on the payment provider's own secure checkout and are never stored by Sight-Terp.

Can I get a refund?

A full refund is available within 14 days of purchase. Credits that have already been used cannot be refunded or transferred; unused credits fall under the same 14-day window. The full terms are on the Refund Policy page — to start a request, email contact@sightterp.com with your account details.

Privacy & data

What happens to my audio?

To produce a transcript in real time, your audio is transmitted over an encrypted connection to third-party speech-recognition providers. Sight-Terp does not store or retain that audio on its own servers; the providers' own terms and privacy policies govern how they handle it. The Privacy Policy sets this out in full.

Can I use Sight-Terp for confidential assignments?

That is a decision for you and your client. Because audio and text leave your machine and are processed by external providers, check your confidentiality undertakings and your client's data-handling rules before using the toolbox on sensitive material.

What data does my account hold?

Your profile details from sign-in, your plan and credit balances, and a short log of recent runs so the usage table on your Account page has something to show. You can see all of it on that page.

How do I delete my account?

Email contact@sightterp.com from the address you signed up with and ask for deletion. Cancel any active subscription first so no further charges are raised.

Troubleshooting

Assist is not picking up the speaker

Work through these in order:

  • Check that the browser has microphone permission for the site — the padlock icon in the address bar shows the current setting.
  • Confirm the right input device is selected, both in the app and in your operating system's sound settings.
  • If the sound comes from another application rather than a microphone, route it through a virtual audio cable as described in the Setup Guide.
  • Close other applications that hold the microphone open, such as a conferencing client already in a call.
The transcript lags or stops mid-session

Real-time recognition needs a steady connection. On an unstable network the transcript may fall behind or stop. Stop the session and start a new one — the time you actually used is settled on the server, so an interrupted session does not cost you extra credits.

My credit balance looks wrong

Assist credits are settled when the session ends, so the badge in the top bar can lag by a moment. Reload the page, then check the Recent Usage table on your Account page — it shows exactly what was charged and when. If the numbers still do not add up, send us that record and we will look into it.

I keep being sent back to the login screen

This is almost always a stale session. Log out, clear cookies for the site, and sign in again. If your browser blocks third-party cookies aggressively or you are in a private window, allow cookies for Sight-Terp so the sign-in can complete.

Something else is wrong

Email contact@sightterp.com. Telling us which app you were using, what you expected, what happened instead, and your browser and operating system gets you a useful answer much faster.
